A crawler that said it was Roblox took 145GB of 3D models — including adult ones

“A bot that claimed to be Roblox walked into an adult 3D-model site and took 145 gigabytes without asking.”

The Story

The operator of Open3DLab, SFMLab, and SmutBase says a crawler with user-agent trellis2-data-sourcing/1.0 and a @roblox.com address downloaded 145.5GB across 712 projects on Oct. 15–16, ignored robots.txt, and took adult projects at the same rate as everything else — 345 of 712 marked adult. Roblox had not replied to two emails as of the post.

Why It Matters

A kids’ metaverse crawler vacuuming adult Source Filmmaker models for “3D foundation model research.” Training-data theft as slapstick, with a child-platform aftertaste.

Evidence
