The Story
AI girl group BABYQUEEN posted, in character, that member Mity was pregnant and pausing all activity. The post drew tens of millions of Weibo views. The creator later said the pregnancy was invented because running several AI personas had become exhausting. SCMP carried the story in English today; fans asked who the father was, and whether the baby would be a robot or an algorithm.
Why It Matters
Identity as ops. Maternity leave became the offboarding tool for a character with no body. Adjacent to SFL’s Korean AI-dating coverage, but a different ritual: K-pop paperwork applied to weights.
