The Story
Starting October 30, Meta business accounts authorize scrapers, bots, and crawlers on websites “associated with” their products. Because nearly every newsroom has a Facebook Page, experts say the clause can be read as permission to train AI on the newsroom site, with no opt-out except leaving Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Why It Matters
The login is the contract. A social account becomes a backdoor into the archive; distribution becomes the license.
