Bank of America Hired 1,000 Humans to Patch Bugs an AI Found

“AI found the bugs. Bank of America hired 1,000 contractors to vacuum them up.”

The Story

Bank of America brought in 1,000 contractors on top of 3,000 staff after Anthropic’s Mythos and similar models exposed holes in its own software and vendor code. Moynihan said Q3 spent “a couple hundred million plus” on cleanup and AML work, while the bank still projects $700 million in AI savings next year. Finding the bugs scaled with GPUs; fixing them required a human army.

Why It Matters

AI was supposed to shrink the bank. It created a temporary 4,000-person patch factory. Discovery now outruns repair, leaving humans mopping after machines.
