Apple HomeView: the kitchen screen that recognizes your face and becomes you

“Walk into the kitchen. The screen decides who you are.”

The Story

Apple unveiled HomeView ($299, ships Nov. 13): a 7-inch home display with Siri AI that facial-recognizes up to six household members and swaps to their messages, calendar, and automations. It is not available in the EU because Siri AI isn’t. Apple stresses on-device privacy; the strange part is a shared object that is a different person depending on who walks up.

Why It Matters

Identity as a household appliance. The family computer no longer has user accounts—it has faces. EU exclusion is the institutional sting.
