REA: coding agents can now reverse-engineer binaries, Electron apps, and websites on demand

“Ask your agent how Calculator’s % button actually works. It opens the binary.”

The Story

REA (“Reverse Engineer Anything”) is an open-source MCP/CLI layer that lets coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.) drive local Ghidra/Hopper/IDA-style analysis plus JS/Electron/.NET/website inspection, returning evidence-backed findings instead of vibes. Builders are using it to explain closed features and rebuild them. It hit HN hard in the last day.

Why It Matters

Your agent can now read software the way a human reverse engineer does — without source, locally, with receipts. That’s builder superpower and a quiet shift in who gets to understand closed systems.
