A company will fix your pipes for free if the plumber films it for robots
“The plumber is wearing glasses. The robot is watching your pipes.”
The Story
HUMXN is paying for qualifying home-service jobs in three U.S. cities in exchange for first-person recordings of the work. Plumbers, electricians, and HVAC techs wear capture gear; the footage becomes training data for physical AI and robotics. Homeowners pay nothing, contractors get paid, and labs get scarce real-world skilled-labor video.
Why It Matters
Your leaky faucet is now a dataset. The trades are being filmed from the inside so humanoids can eventually do the job — and the homeowner’s incentive is a free repair.
Evidence
HUMXN announcement (Oct 6), HN discussion, secondary reporting on wearable capture in Minneapolis/Chicago/Miami. Technicians use wearable cameras; homeowners get subsidized plumbing, HVAC, electrical, etc.
