Singapore’s government is matchmaking civil servants with a Nobel algorithm

“Singapore’s government just started dating its own workers with a Nobel Prize algorithm. One match at a time. No swiping.”

The Story

GovTech launched FirstDate this week for public officers aged 21–35. Users log in with Singpass, complete a values questionnaire, and receive one match per cycle generated by the Gale-Shapley stable-marriage algorithm. The stated goal is to fight swipe fatigue and a record-low fertility rate; applications close October 5.

Why It Matters

The state has become the matchmaker, using a 1962 economics paper to pair its employees because the birth rate collapsed. Love becomes infrastructure.
