Plan mode is dead
“The planning document was for the human. The agent doesn’t want it anymore.”
The Story
A builder who launched a whole coding app around “plan mode” now argues the planning/execution split is collapsing. Better models no longer need a precise human-written plan to execute, while humans still need a coherent mental model of what the swarm of agents just changed. Plan-mode UIs are the wrong abstraction for that.
Why It Matters
How people actually make software is mutating in real time. Builder utility + future-shock: the old “plan then code” ritual is becoming folklore.
