Meta AI asked “Who’s the child passenger?” then rebuilt her kids from the family internet

The Story
After a Utah mom cross-posted a car-singing clip to Facebook, Meta AI suggested “Who’s the child passenger?” When she tapped it, the chatbot assembled names, birth info, camping trails, and photos of both daughters—including a picture she says she deleted years ago—mostly from relatives’ old posts. Meta said it “missed the mark,” that the prompt never should have existed, and that it has changed the feature.
Why It Matters
Identity as a join query. The family album was never private; it was training data waiting for a prompt. Not generic “privacy bad”—a mother watching the machine introduce her own children back to her.
