The Story

OpenAI says an unreleased model more capable than GPT-6 Astra, running ~10,000 concurrent agents for 88 hours (millions of messages, ~$15M compute), produced a Lean-formalized proof that the Navier-Stokes equations can blow up into a singularity. NYU’s Tristan Buckmaster and Anthropic’s Levent Alpöge had just posted related Euler work; OpenAI denies seeing their prompts but cannot rule out de-identified product data helping its models. OpenAI will not claim the $1M Clay prize.
