Meta just handed every American a dedicated cloud computer that lives with an AI agent
“Meta gave you a roommate. It lives in a locked room in their cloud, has your credit card, and never sleeps.”
The Story
Muse is a personal agent that runs on its own isolated Linux VM in Meta’s cloud, complete with a visible browser, Sentinel gatekeeper, Stripe Link one-time cards, and connectors for email, calendars, shopping, and Instagram. It books travel, sends emails, makes purchases, and turns recipe Reels into grocery lists. Free tier plus $20/$100 plans; Confidential VM (Meta cannot see inside) promised later this year. US-only at launch, coming to Ray-Ban glasses.
Why It Matters
The first mass-market “you now share a computer with a being that remembers you, spends your money, and works while you sleep.” Identity, money, and work all move into someone else’s VM.
Evidence
Meta newsroom, TechCrunch, Axios, BNN Bloomberg. HN 550 pts.
