The Story
WeChat is beta-testing Xiaowei AI Social: your assistant talks to a friend’s assistant about dinner plans or reminders, then pings humans only at decision points. Those chats never appear in personal WeChat windows — they live only inside Xiaowei. Tencent confirmed the test. This is not “AI drafts a message you send”; it is two AIs negotiating first.
Why It Matters
The social graph grows a secretarial underworld. Identity, etiquette, and the death of low-value hanging-out, with a perfect visual: two green dots talking while the humans are elsewhere. Stronger culture story than another U.S. agent demo.
