Established names (Matthew McConaughey, others) are licensing voices to ElevenLabs and similar platforms for extra revenue, while working voice actors report gigs for explainers, ads, and budget audiobooks collapsing. Some have turned down six-figure training deals on principle; Reddit forums of working actors describe being “tricked into training their replacements.” SAG-AFTRA has new synthetic-performer rules, but the day-to-day market is already shifting.
