Meta’s next agent “has its own computer” and keeps working after you close the app

The Story
An internal Meta memo says Hatch, the company’s coming personal agent, “has its own computer so it can do anything you can do online,” including filling forms, buying things, and deep research, and that it works when the app is closed. It can plug into email, calendar, Spotify, Instagram, and OpenTable; users “design” the agent’s name and voice. This is a memo about a product in development, not a public launch.
Why It Matters
The sacred object is a laptop that does not belong to you. Instagram’s parent is building a second self with its own machine, its own memory, and permission to stay awake in your social graph. Future-shock plus a concrete line you can put on a thumbnail.
