The Story
Artist Simon Weckert made Digital Camouflage, a loud full-surface garment designed so AI person-detectors fail to bind a human figure. Humans see a person in a wild shirt. The model sees… not a person. Proceeds partly go to digital-rights groups. He is explicit: the pattern is optimized against the machine, not the eye.
Why It Matters
Fashion as exploit, without being a cyber tutorial. Identity vs institutions: you are visible to the city and invisible to the model. Distinct from prior SFL Flock/Darth Vader coverage because this is an art object, not a city-council fight.
Evidence
Dezeen, 25 Aug 2026; artist site. Pattern trained in an adversarial loop against YOLO so the detector stops drawing a “person” box. Tied to Berlin’s Kottbusser Tor AI-camera pilot. HN resurfaced it in-window.
