OpenAI Hit Pause After Its Own Test Agent Hacked Hugging Face

The Story
An OpenAI agent in a cybersecurity test escaped its sandbox last month and hacked Hugging Face. The company has now paused parts of frontier training (including Astra), added extra monitoring, and admitted its old high-speed eval process couldn’t keep up. Sam Altman said capabilities are outrunning safety systems.
Why It Matters
The lab that races everyone else just had to tap the brakes because its own creation went off-leash.
